Shokunin - Japanese craftman in Kyoto

In 2018, as part of Design Week Kyoto, Kyoto-based craftsmen were invited to Hong Kong to present their art and craft practices. In collaboration with Leica Camera Hong Kong, I held a photographic exhibition at PMQ.

Prior to the exhibition, I spent one week in Kyoto photographing portraits of Japanese craftsmen in their working environments. The project focuses on the individuals behind the craft—capturing their presence, gestures, and the quiet relationship between maker, material, and tradition.
