Shokunin - Japanese craftman in Kyoto

In 2018, as part of Design Week Kyoto in Hong Kong, organized by PMQ and Mod-Alliance with Leica. Kyoto-based craftsmen were invited to Hong Kong to present their art and craft practices. I spent one week in Kyoto photographing portraits of Japanese craftsmen in their working environments. The project focuses on the individuals behind the craft—capturing their presence, gestures, and the quiet relationship between maker, material, and tradition.
